About

Digital Gym CINEMA in downtown San Diego's East Village stands as the last arthouse theater in San Diego, operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit by Media Arts Center San Diego since the organization's founding in 1999. The cinema screens independent, international, and documentary features at the UCSD Park & Market building on Market Street near Petco Park, contributing to the same East Village entertainment district as live venues like Music Box. Programming includes Sundance Satellite Screens selections and year-round genre spotlights curated by in-house programmers alongside community groups like Film Geeks San Diego. Media Arts Center San Diego also produces the annual San Diego Latino Film Festival, the region's longest-running film festival, staging screenings at the Digital Gym and larger downtown venues including San Diego Civic Theatre. The organization's youth pipeline runs Teen Producers Project workshops and seasonal media camps that teach digital filmmaking to students as young as six.
