About

OLR Pastoral Center in downtown San Diego's Little Italy district manages parish administration for Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, a parish founded in 1925 by Italian-American fishermen and known locally as the Jewel of Little Italy. The offices at 1629 Columbia Street coordinate sacramental records, marriage preparation, and faith formation programs under the Diocese of San Diego, headquartered at St. Joseph's Cathedral on Third Avenue. A $2.5 million restoration completed ahead of the parish's 2025 centennial remastered original murals by Venetian painter Fausto Tasca, replaced flooring with Calcutta and Rojo Alicante marble, and installed new stained-glass panels depicting the prodigal son and merciful father. The parish's annual Festa celebration turns India Street into an open-air Italian festival each October, anchoring a cultural corridor that includes Piazza della Famiglia, Little Italy's central public gathering square. The pastoral center manages scheduling for the full sacramental calendar -- baptisms, first communions, confirmations, weddings, and funerals -- across both the restored 1925 church at 1668 State Street and the Columbia Street offices.
