About

Postino Little Italy in downtown San Diego opened in April 2024 inside the LEED-certified 2100 Kettner building, a women-owned wine cafe chain converting a former British Motors car dealership into a 2,652-square-foot dining room on Kettner Boulevard. The sommelier-curated list rotates boutique wines by the glass alongside seasonal bruschetta boards, a shareable Italian format that parallels the rustic small-plate lineup at Barbusa on India Street. An art installation of 5,500 embroidered mechanic name tags salvaged from the building's automotive era anchors one wall within a mid-century modern design scheme of Murano glass chandeliers and vintage brass finishings. Co-founder Lauren Bailey launched the original Postino inside a converted 1940s Phoenix post office in 2001, and the Kettner Boulevard iteration channels the same repurposed-space identity within the cocktail-driven social dining stretch that includes Craft & Commerce. The deepest-value pairing is the Monday and Tuesday Board & Bottle format bundling a full bruschetta board with a bottle of wine.
