Bub's at the Ballpark in downtown San Diego's East Village opened its J Street location in 2011 after the original Pacific Beach bar launched in 1996, built from West Coast architectural salvage including reclaimed wood, scrap metal, and reused brick. A 32-tap draft wall, indoor basketball court, shuffleboard, and more than 40 screens make the space a pregame staging ground for Petco Park — a game-day entertainment format shared with East Village Tavern+Bowl a few blocks south on Market Street. The from-scratch kitchen grinds a proprietary burger blend of brisket, sirloin, and short rib in-house daily, served alongside the signature Lunch Lady Tater Tots and dry-rubbed Backyard Grilled Wings. Bub's holds an official partnership with Major League Baseball and the San Diego Padres, running game-day programming across the same East Village corridor where The Blind Burro draws its own ballpark crowd. Full-venue buyouts and on-site catering handle corporate watch parties, reunion dinners, and multi-hundred-person private events with dedicated A/V, customizable menus, and patio access along J Street.
