Heleo Architecture + Design

Architecture & Design

About

Heleo Architecture + Design in downtown San Diego's East Village, near Petco Park, is a full-service practice founded in 2015 with California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado architectural licenses across both its San Diego and Los Angeles studios. Adaptive-reuse projects — converting aging commercial buildings into new retail, office, or residential uses — form a core specialty, with electrical upgrades and code-compliance rewiring handled by The Right Guys Construction, Inc. during construction administration. The firm's co-founders hold Assoc. AIA and LEED AP credentials and lead a bilingual English-Spanish team that serves clients on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border, permitting work across San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, Imperial, and San Mateo counties. An AIA San Diego Honor Award recognized the Insurgente Brewery in Tijuana, a ground-up commercial project that merged industrial materials with neighborhood-scaled massing. Site landscape coordination on commercial and mixed-use commissions runs through Rodarte Landscape Architecture, connecting hardscape and planting plans to the architectural envelope. The largest recent commission is the EXCHANGE Pavilion at Balboa Park, designed for World Design Capital San Diego-Tijuana 2024 — a cross-border installation that reimagined border-wall materials as a public bridge structure.
