About

Founded in 1967 by the Women of St. Peter's, St. Peter's Thrift Shop at 334 14th St, Del Mar, CA 92014 is one of the village's longest-running charitable retail operations. The entrance is on Maiden Lane, just steps off the main commercial stretch, and the shop is run by a team of over 50 volunteers under manager Valerie Rieger, a St. Peter's parishioner of more than 23 years. In 2022 alone the volunteer crew processed and sold over 90,000 donated items, a figure that reflects the constant turnover of inventory shoppers appreciate — clothing, shoes, accessories, jewelry, sporting goods, kitchen and bath items, home décor, books, and small accent furniture all cycle through regularly. One hundred percent of net profits support the ministries of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, with five percent of church revenue reinvested into local and global outreach grants benefiting organizations like Beacons North County, NAMI, and Generate Hope. Each month, proceeds from the shop's Giving Jar go directly to a featured nonprofit. The thrift shop also accepts non-perishable food donations, which it forwards to the local food pantry. Located on 14th Street, the shop sits a short walk from Rusty Del Mar Surf Shop on 15th Street, so bargain hunters can easily pair a thrift run with a browse through Del Mar's iconic surf shop. Free one-hour parking is available to shoppers in the lot — pick up a parking pass at the register. The shop is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed on Sundays and church holidays.
