Del Mar Farmers Market is a certified nonprofit farmers market held every Saturday from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Del Mar Civic Center, 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA 92014. Established in 1986, it is the second-oldest farmers market in the San Diego region and has operated year-round for nearly four decades. The market occupies the lower outdoor lot of the Civic Center with free garage parking, positioned along the same Camino Del Mar corridor as Stratford Court Cafe and the rest of walkable Del Mar Village. It supports California's certified growers by giving them a direct-to-consumer sales outlet, which helps sustain small-acreage farms growing heirloom, organic, and specialty crops. Shoppers find pesticide-free seasonal fruits and vegetables, fresh eggs, potted herbs, orchids, artisan bread and baked goods, hummus, local honey, fruit juice, seafood, and international prepared foods including sushi and East African cuisine. Live music is a Saturday afternoon staple, and donation-based fitness classes sometimes take place on the Civic Center's turf lawn. A dedicated dog zone with treats and water makes it one of the more pet-friendly markets in North County. The market moved to its current Civic Center location in 2018 after two years at a temporary site during the city's $18 million civic center construction project, and the increased visibility from Camino Del Mar has helped draw both foot traffic and new vendors. Proceeds support local organizations including the Friends of the Del Mar Library, Del Mar Community Connections, and the Friends of the San Dieguito River Valley. The market also funds scholarships for farmers and vendors in the community.
