Dedicated in June 2018 after a $17.8 million construction project delivered on time and on budget, the Del Mar Civic Center at 1050 Camino Del Mar, Del Mar, CA 92014, serves as the central hub for city government services. The award-winning complex was designed by The Miller Hull Partnership and built by RABC-ECC on a 1.5-acre site along a portion of historic U.S. Highway 101. City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and offers remote services on Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 858-755-9313. The facility includes a 9,000-square-foot City Hall with council chambers and administrative offices, a 3,000-square-foot Town Hall for public gatherings, and a 20,000-square-foot Town Commons with ocean-view garden terraces. Parking for 140 vehicles is tucked into a partially below-grade structure accessible from 10th and 11th Streets. An enclosed breezeway between the council chambers and offices was designed to make government transparent — pedestrians along Camino Del Mar can look in and observe the civic process as part of their everyday walk through the village. The outdoor spaces host Del Mar's weekly farmers market, and the Del Mar Foundation holds its First Thursdays subscription concert series in Town Hall with wine and cheese receptions beginning at 6:30 p.m. The building's Coastal Craftsman architecture draws from beloved Del Mar landmarks including the nearby library and the Del Mar Powerhouse Community Center at Powerhouse Park. A Torrey Pine-inspired wooden truss crowns the Town Hall cupola, visible as a gateway beacon from the southern approach into the city. Planning counter and building counter services are available Monday and Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and utility bills can be paid online or by calling 855-385-9410.
