Del Mar's first brewery, Viewpoint Brewing Company sits at 2201 San Dieguito Drive, Suite D, Del Mar 92014, in a converted 7,000-square-foot warehouse that once served as a commercial pottery studio directly across from the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Founded by Charles Koll, a local chef and homebrewer, Viewpoint opened in 2017 with panoramic views of the San Dieguito Lagoon and Wildlife Bird Reserve, and it shares the waterside fairgrounds corridor with Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar just down Jimmy Durante Boulevard. Head brewer Moe Katomski keeps 20 taps rotating with house-brewed styles ranging from the Hop-Cano Hazy IPA with pineapple and peach notes to the Penitent Man West Coast IPA and Bari's Passion Wheat Ale made with passion fruit juice. The kitchen, led by Executive Chef Dustin Karagheusian, goes well beyond standard pub fare with dishes like pork belly bites, smoked Gouda mac and cheese, the Del Mar cheesesteak, and Mary's chicken pie. Weekend brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with items like eggs Benedict and breakfast hash, while the lunch and dinner menus are available Tuesday through Friday starting at noon. Roll-up garage doors open the space to the lagoon breeze, and the outdoor patio features fire tables, communal seating, lawn games, and swings.
