Queenstown Del Mar opened in May 2026 at 1435 Camino Del Mar in Del Mar Village, bringing New Zealand-inspired comfort food and craft cocktails to one of North County's most walkable dining corridors. It's the fourth concept from Queenstown Hospitality Group, the San Diego-based team behind Bare Back Grill in Pacific Beach, Raglan Public House in Ocean Beach, and Dunedin in North Park. Co-founders PJ Lamont and Matt Baker built the group around grass-fed, sustainably sourced beef before that approach was mainstream, and the Del Mar location carries the same philosophy into a 2,500-square-foot space on the corner of Camino Del Mar and 15th Street. The restaurant sits a short walk from Del Mar Plaza and a block south of Sbicca, putting it in the middle of the village's densest restaurant stretch. Designed by Michael Soriano of Onairos Design, the interior is anchored by a standalone glass pavilion dining room with fully retractable windows that open the room to the street. Dog-friendly patio seating, indoor bar seating, and the pavilion give guests three different ways to eat here depending on the weather and the mood. Weekend brunch starts at 9am on Saturdays and Sundays. The menu covers grass-fed burgers, shareable plates, handcrafted cocktails, and New Zealand-influenced dishes that don't require an explanation to enjoy. For anyone wondering where to eat in Del Mar after a morning at Powerhouse Park or Del Mar Dog Beach, or looking for a pre-race dinner during racing season at the nearby Del Mar Racetrack, Queenstown is now one of the closer options to the village core. It joins a Camino Del Mar corridor that already includes Board & Brew, Brigantine Seafood & Oyster Bar, and the upcoming Honor Bar at 1404 Camino Del Mar, giving the 92014 ZIP code another reason to eat local and skip the drive to La Jolla.
