Cays Yoga & Pilates in Coronado opened in April 2025 at 503-B Grand Caribe Causeway, bringing yoga and mat Pilates programming to the Coronado Cays waterfront community for the first time. Co-founders Marbella Ryan and Madison Chapman — both Coronado High School graduates from the class of 2022 — built the studio next to Calypso Cafe and The Gondola Company at the 503 Grand Caribe address, anchoring the Cays' first dedicated movement studio in a mixed leisure-and-wellness cluster on the bay. The class schedule covers Vinyasa Yoga Flow at Level 1 and Level 2, Yoga Sculpt, Yin Yoga with sound-bath healing, mat Pilates, stretch and mobility sessions, and private instruction, with plans to add Lagree Method micro-reformer machines in the coming months. Chapman discovered yoga as rehabilitation for competitive cheerleading injuries — including a broken growth plate, two lumbar stress fractures, and a torn hip flexor sustained during her junior year — and Ryan grew up watching her parents practice yoga at home in the Cays, developing an interest she later formalized through instructor certification. Small class sizes keep individual attention high, and the studio offers drop-in sessions, multi-class packs, and unlimited monthly memberships across the 92118 ZIP. The Grand Caribe Causeway location serves both Coronado Island and Imperial Beach residents traveling via Silver Strand Boulevard, placing the studio at the southern end of the island away from the Orange Avenue corridor and Hotel Del Coronado. Chapman and Ryan trained in Hawaii before returning to Coronado, and the teaching style integrates breath-to-movement sequencing with clear modifications for injury recovery — a complementary approach to the spinal alignment work at Potter Chiropractic in the Village. The studio provides mats at no additional charge for drop-in students.
