Habaneros Mexican Food at 900 Orange Avenue in Coronado is a grab-and-go taco shop that soft-launched in February 2026 after a six-year development process, adding a full-service Mexican kitchen to the island's commercial midpoint near Hotel Del Coronado. The restaurant shares the property with the Coronado Island Shell station, converting what was a fuel-stop corner into a food destination with a covered outdoor patio and counter-service ordering for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Bahri family has operated the Shell station at 900 Orange since 2004 and partnered with a chef with over 20 years of multi-location restaurant experience to develop the Habaneros concept from permitting through construction. The menu covers California burritos, carne asada fries, fish street tacos, al pastor street tacos, and a Giant Crunch Burrito, with plans for in-house delivery service to supplement third-party app ordering across the 92118. Entrees are built from a scratch-prep line processing house-cut proteins and fresh pico de gallo, and the outdoor patio seats diners on the Orange Avenue corridor within walking distance of Lobster West Coronado and the Coronado Ferry Landing seafood cluster.
