Coronado Masonic Lodge No. 441, F&AM, has occupied 529 Orange Avenue in Coronado since the Temple's cornerstone was laid on November 25, 1916, on Coronado Island in the 92118 ZIP. Founded on March 9, 1913, when 29 Masons assembled at the old City Hall at First Street and Orange Avenue, the Lodge shares Orange Avenue's civic corridor with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2422 at 557 Orange Avenue and the veterans'-service organizations that anchor the island's military-community identity. The 1916 Temple building is one of the oldest continually occupied fraternal structures on Coronado Island, predating many of the commercial buildings on the same stretch of Orange Avenue between Hotel Del Coronado at the southern end and the Coronado Ferry Landing bayfront to the north. Stated meetings follow the Free and Accepted Masons' ritual format with degree work, lodge business, and fellowship, and the Lodge's charitable mission includes community service projects, scholarships, and support for the Masonic Home for Children and the Masonic Widows and Orphans Fund. The Coronado Bridge connects the island's fraternal community to the Grand Lodge of California's statewide network, and military Masons transferring to Naval Air Station North Island or Naval Amphibious Base Coronado find Lodge 441 within walking distance of their duty stations. Community-event participation includes shared programming with civic organizations such as the Coronado Fire Station Venue, and the Lodge's Orange Avenue location makes it accessible from Coronado Beach, the village retail strip, and every residential block on the flat, walkable island grid. The 1913 charter places Lodge 441 among the earliest fraternal organizations established on the island, predating the Coronado Bridge and the modern ferry system that now connect the island to mainland San Diego.
