Emerald C Gallery at 1331 Orange Avenue in Coronado opened in October 2014 as a multi-artist gallery and event space representing more than 50 creators from Baja Norte through Southern California in painting, glasswork, sculpture, photography, leatherwork, and fine jewelry. The storefront sits across Orange Avenue from Hotel Del Coronado and operated as a hub for weekly wine-and-paint workshops, live music performances, and featured-artist receptions, building a following among Coronado Island residents and tourists who frequent the same corridor as Crown Bistro and surrounding Orange Avenue dining. In November 2024 the physical gallery transitioned to an online marketplace, and the popular wine-and-paint workshop series moved to a mobile format partnering with established Coronado restaurants for hosted creative events across the island. The gallery's artist roster spans oil and acrylic painting, hand-blown glass, ceramic sculpture, and multimedia installations, with a focus on coastal and Southern California subject matter that resonated with Coronado's tourist and collector markets. Live jazz concerts and community events held at 1331 Orange Avenue drew audiences from the same evening entertainment circuit anchored by Island Club and Orange Avenue's bar scene, establishing the gallery as both a retail and performance space during its decade on the island. The most complex works in the collection include multi-layer resin-and-glass sculptural pieces requiring kiln firing above 1,400 degrees Fahrenheit and cold-working polish stages that span multiple weeks per finished object. Visitors crossing the Coronado Bridge from mainland San Diego or riding the Coronado Ferry to the island's bayfront discover the gallery within a flat walk through Coronado Island's compact, bikeable village grid.
