Grantville-based marriage and family therapist Kristin Mcdonald operates through LifeStance Health in San Diego at 6386 Alvarado Court, Suite 210. Mcdonald earned her Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University in 2010 and was state-credentialed as an LMFT in 2014. She treats patients starting at age five, and her clinical work spans more than a decade of direct service with children, adolescents, and families. Mcdonald's therapy caseload draws referrals from primary care physicians in the Grantville corridor, including Inspire Wellness: Habib Dalhoumi, MD, who routes patients presenting with anxiety, depression, and behavioral concerns. She began her career in bereavement counseling at San Diego Hospice, providing individual, couples, family, and group therapy for pre- and post-bereavement clients — a specialization that remains central to her practice. Following that foundation, Mcdonald expanded into residential and school-based settings, delivering individual, family, and group counseling to children and young adults with behavioral, emotional, and mental health diagnoses. She currently maintains a concurrent role as a Mental Health Therapist at a San Diego day school serving K-8 students with IEPs for social, emotional, and behavioral needs. The LifeStance clinic sits off Alvarado Canyon Road near SDSU in the 92120 ZIP. Mcdonald also practices from LifeStance's La Mesa location on Fletcher Parkway, and all sessions currently run via telehealth. The practice is designated LGBTQ+ inclusive with transgender safespace recognition. The mindfulness and movement-based stress regulation at Yoga Box in College Area complements the grief and anxiety work Mcdonald does in session, where somatic tension often accompanies unresolved bereavement. Mcdonald's school-based clinical training gives her direct experience with IEP-driven behavioral intervention plans that most private-practice therapists do not carry.
