Grossmont College Beach Volleyball Courts host the Griffins women's beach volleyball program in the San Carlos section of San Diego, serving as the competition venue for a team that captured its fifth state championship in 2023. The sand courts are part of Grossmont College's athletics department, and the Griffins compete in the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference alongside San Diego Mesa, MiraCosta, Palomar, Imperial Valley, and Southwestern. Student-athletes in the community-college pipeline train across the College Area orbit's network of fitness and aquatic facilities, and the Kroc Aquatic Center in College Area provides cross-training access for athletes in the 92119 ZIP. The pairs-format game fields five two-player teams per side in a best-of-five dual-match structure, and conference matches and invitationals run through the spring semester. Grossmont College sits on a 135-acre mesa at the eastern edge of the San Carlos and La Mesa border, accessible from Interstate 8 and State Route 125. Average student-athlete participation across all Grossmont sports runs approximately 145 per semester, with beach volleyball adding a spring roster of 10 to 14 competitors. The 2024-25 season finished with a 12-7 overall record. Conditioning programs for volleyball athletes overlap with the strength and mobility training at facilities such as San Diego State University Adaptive Fitness Clinic near the SDSU campus, and Cowles Mountain's trailhead sits west of the Grossmont campus. The courts are available for community-league play and club programs outside the conference competition window.
