About

Veterans Home of California – Chula Vista occupies a 30-acre campus overlooking San Diego Bay at 700 East Naples Court, the third state veterans home in California and the first sited in coastal Southern California. Completed in May 2000 under the California Department of Veterans Affairs, the facility operates a 297-bed continuum of care — independent living, Residential Care Facility for the Elderly, and Medicare/Medi-Cal-certified skilled nursing — with acute-care transfers routed to adjacent Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center on the same Medical Center Drive corridor. Each of the 400 private rooms measures at least 270 square feet and includes a barrier-free bathroom with walk-in shower, individual climate controls, basic cable television, and a 24-hour emergency call system with housekeeping and linen service included. On-site clinical services span a primary-care clinic staffed by a physician and nurse practitioner, a therapy gym for physical, occupational, and speech rehabilitation complemented by post-acute providers such as South Bay Post Acute Care, and visiting specialty clinics in optometry, podiatry, audiology, and dental hygiene. The skilled-nursing wing maintains around-the-clock RN coverage, a negative-pressure isolation room, and an electronic medication-administration system that interfaces directly with the VA pharmacy for formulary dispensing.
