About

Chula Vista Fire Department Station 7 at 1640 Santa Venetia Street in the Otay Ranch district opened on September 11, 2003, with a $4 million design-build project that included a permanent memorial to the 343 FDNY firefighters who perished on September 11, 2001. The 14,000-square-foot facility houses both a truck company and an engine company and serves as Battalion Headquarters for the eastern half of the city, dispatching apparatus to the Otay Ranch, Millenia, and Winding Walk neighborhoods where urgent medical calls route to facilities including Marque Urgent Care. Four drive-through apparatus bays, bunk rooms for up to 10 firefighters and a battalion chief, a fitness area, kitchen, day room, dispatch office, and hose-drying tower occupy the station's footprint near Otay Ranch High School. Station 7's ladder truck provides aerial access and ventilation capability for the multi-story commercial and residential structures along Eastlake Parkway and Olympic Parkway, extending mutual-aid coverage to community gathering points such as Iglesia EastLake in the same 91913 corridor. The station received an award from Fire Chief Magazine in the 2004 Station Style program for its design, which was fast-tracked from programming to occupancy in under 12 months.
