About

The Rambler Hotel in Chula Vista's bayfront district is a 114-room retro-themed motel on Bay Boulevard, redesigned in 2018 by San Diego hospitality firm Eat.Drink.Sleep. The property's kidney-shaped pool deck, fire pits, and giant lawn games occupy the same bayfront corridor as San Diego Bay National Wildlife Refuge, which anchors the Living Coast Discovery Center less than a mile south. Large-scale graphic murals by San Diego artists Grand Presto cover guest-room interiors and two exterior walls, while each of the 114 rooms includes 49-inch flat-screen televisions, smartphone docking stations, and memory-foam mattresses installed during the 2018 renovation. On-site Crank'ed Coffee brews Café Calabria roasts and serves quick bites, building an integrated food-and-lodging format that stands apart from the standalone taproom experience at 3 Punk Ales Brewing Co. and other Chula Vista bars along the corridor. The Bayfront–E Street Trolley station sits two blocks east, providing direct MTS light-rail access to the San Diego Convention Center, Petco Park, and the San Ysidro international border crossing.
