Pima Medical Institute in Chula Vista has trained allied health professionals from its Bay Boulevard campus since 1998, holding ABHES national accreditation and BPPE approval to operate through February 2028. The Chula Vista location offers certificate programs in Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, Medical Administrative Assistant, Pharmacy Technician, and Veterinary Assistant alongside associate degrees in Radiography, Surgical Technology, and Veterinary Technician—the latter placing externs at clinical partners including Telegraph Canyon Animal Medical Center on the east side. Founded in Tucson in 1972, the institute now operates 17 campuses across eight western states as one of the largest privately held accredited allied health schools in the country. Dental Assistant graduates complete chair-side training that qualifies them for placement in South Bay practices such as Dental Group Palomar, where expanded-functions competencies in coronal polishing and radiograph exposure meet immediate employer demand. The Surgical Technology associate degree program trains students in sterile field management, instrumentation for orthopedic and cardiovascular procedures, and CAAHEP-aligned competencies required for CST certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
