About

Loma Verde Community Center in Chula Vista occupies a 25,800-square-foot facility within the 6.25-acre Loma Verde Park on Loma Lane, rebuilt through a $12.8 million Measure P–funded renovation completed in 2023 and designed by COAR Design Group. The center features a multi-purpose gymnasium, dance rooms, a crafts room, a fitness room, and a game room, providing after-school activities, recreational classes, and event space that complements the programming at Salt Creek Recreational Center in eastern Chula Vista. An additional $8 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding completed Phase 3 — the aquatics component — adding a competition pool heated to 79–81 degrees and configurable for 22 short-course or 10 long-course lane lines, plus a recreation pool heated to 85–87 degrees for swim lessons and water fitness. The gym and fitness room host youth basketball leagues, adult fitness classes, and senior wellness sessions, extending the city's recreation network alongside commercial fitness operators such as Chuze Fitness in the 91911 zip code. The competition pool supports water polo with configurable 25-yard, 25-meter, and 30-meter course layouts, floating cages, start rings, and backstroke flags — making Loma Verde one of the few municipal facilities in the South Bay equipped for sanctioned aquatic competition.
