About

Community Congregational Church and Pre-School in Chula Vista's Third Avenue Village district is the oldest church in the South Bay, established in 1892 and designated as Chula Vista Historic Site No. 5. Affiliated with the United Church of Christ, the F Street campus includes an on-site preschool and shares its education-centered mission with area early-childhood programs such as Children's Choice Academy. A 125th-anniversary commemorative tile mural by artist Bob Teague is displayed on the Center Street facade, documenting the original church structure in glazed ceramic. The congregation initiated development of Congregational Tower | An RHF Community, a federally subsidized senior-housing complex at 288 F Street now managed by the UCC's Retirement Housing Foundation. The campus hosts three distinct worship communities under one roof -- the primary UCC congregation, a Celebrate Recovery fellowship, and a Spanish-language Fruit of the Vine congregation -- each running independent programming within the shared Third Avenue sanctuary.
