About

Golf at Omni La Costa in Carlsbad's La Costa area delivers 36 holes across two championship courses on Costa Del Mar Road, anchored by architect Dick Wilson's original 1965 design that hosted 37 PGA Tour events through the mid-2000s. The North Course (formerly Champions) underwent a comprehensive Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner redesign completed in 2023 — introducing six sets of tees, repositioned greens, and native barranca areas — while the 400-acre resort grounds also house The Spa at La Costa for post-round recovery. Golf Digest ranked the Hanse renovation number three nationally in its Best Renovations category, and the North Course now serves as the permanent home of the NCAA Division I Golf Championships from 2024 through 2028. The parkland-style South Course (formerly Legends) was redesigned by Pascuzzo & Pate in 2013 as an 18-hole, 72-par layout threading through mature trees and gentle doglegs, with San Marcos Creek winding through the back nine — conditions refined through swing-data analysis at the on-site Omni La Costa Golf Performance Institute. A Beau Welling-designed practice facility with dedicated short-game areas, a double-ended driving range, and launch-monitor fitting bays supports tournament-level preparation across both courses.
