About

Boardworks, headquartered in Carlsbad on Priestly Drive since the early 1990s, designs and manufactures stand-up paddleboards and surfboards using proprietary molded epoxy sandwich construction. The company originally operated as Windsurfing Works before adopting the Boardworks name in 2003 and pivoting to SUP and surf, a coastal design heritage reflected in the surf-culture artwork at Surf Art Spot in Carlsbad's gallery scene. Boardworks represents shapers including C4 Waterman, Paddle Surf Hawaii, Rusty, Dennis Pang, and Morrelli & Melvin across performance surfing, flat-water touring, whitewater paddling, and open-ocean race categories. The SUP line serves the full spectrum from entry-level inflatable touring boards to carbon-fiber race platforms, equipment tested on local waterways where Swim Synergy and other water-sport operations work Carlsbad's lagoon and coastal paddling routes. Race-class SUP construction uses a vacuum-bagged carbon fiber and Innegra hybrid layup over a shaped EPS core, producing boards at sub-20-pound race weights in lengths from 12'6" to 14'0".
