About

Stagecoach Park in Carlsbad's southeast quadrant covers 28 acres at 3420 Camino De Los Coches near the Encinitas border, combining active athletics, a community center, and a preserved archaeological site. The park's 17,400-square-foot community center houses meeting and activity rooms plus a full gymnasium, anchoring a recreation hub near the seasonal family attractions along Palomar Airport Road including Carlsbad Strawberry Company. Three lighted athletic fields for softball, baseball, soccer, and football share the complex with four half-court basketball courts, four lighted tennis courts, and a sand volleyball court. South Carlsbad's first community garden opened on the grounds with 35 raised planter beds, a composting station, shared tool storage, and an informational kiosk, extending the park's community programming beyond athletics in a model similar to the gathering spaces at Harding Community Center. Adobe remnants of a former stagecoach stop at Rancho Las Encinitas and the Crown Lair public art installation provide a historical and cultural layer beneath the athletic infrastructure, while a riparian section of Encinitas Creek willow woodland is retained as protected wildlife habitat along the park's southern boundary.
