Aviara Community Park in Carlsbad spans 24 acres near the intersection of Poinsettia Lane and Ambrosia Lane, one of the first city parks to install synthetic turf athletic fields for year-round play. The recently completed Aviara Overlook adds a 2,000-square-foot covered picnic pavilion with an outdoor fireplace, a small performance stage, and a 270-degree panoramic view, positioned in the same Aviara recreation corridor as Aviara Golf Club. A full-size lighted synthetic turf soccer field, a lighted softball and baseball diamond, four half-court basketball courts, and five covered picnic areas with barbecues and electrical outlets serve organized leagues and casual visitors alike. The park's playground is the largest in the City of Carlsbad, with separate structures for multiple age groups, complementing the outdoor fitness options along the Poinsettia Lane corridor that include high-intensity interval programs at F45 Training Carlsbad Poinsettia. Bioswales running along the east and south perimeters cleanse stormwater prior to discharge, reflecting the city's sustainability mandate that also incorporates recycled water irrigation and LED field lighting throughout the facility.
