Since its founding in 1980, Hospice of the North Coast in Carlsbad has delivered end-of-life care and bereavement support across North San Diego County from its administrative offices on Pio Pico Drive. The 501(c)(3) organization, licensed by the State of California and Medicare-certified since 1989 under EIN 95-3646269, combines clinical hospice care with integrative therapies and bilingual English-Spanish family counseling, a grief-support scope that intersects with therapeutic services at Worthy Wellness Center. In 2013, the agency opened Pacifica House at 4411 Park Drive, establishing the first dedicated inpatient hospice facility in all of North County San Diego. Community education programming includes a multi-part public seminar series on end-of-life planning and advance directives, extending the organization's outreach beyond clinical care to the same aging population served by the Carlsbad Senior Center. The low staff-to-patient ratio enables individualized care plans integrating pain management, symptom control, spiritual counseling, and holistic modalities for each patient and family unit.
