La Costa Canyon High School in Carlsbad's La Costa area is a WASC-accredited, International Baccalaureate World School operating on an 88-acre campus at 1 Maverick Way since 1996. The IB Diploma Programme—the only one offered within the San Dieguito Union High School District—now enrolls over 150 participants annually, and the application process draws on standardized-test strategists such as SoCal College Planning in the La Costa corridor. Approximately 1,650 students in grades nine through twelve choose from 25 Advanced Placement courses, AVID college-readiness sections, and Career Technical Education pathways spanning engineering, biomedical science, and digital media. A 470-seat Performing Arts Center anchors the campus's visual and performing arts wing, producing student performers who continue training at Carlsbad Performing Arts Academy in the Bressi Ranch corridor.
