About

Completed in 1997 in Carlsbad's Aviara neighborhood, Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, Golf Club & Spa is a 327-room, AAA Five Diamond property designed in Spanish Colonial architecture on 200 acres above Batiquitos Lagoon. The Arnold Palmer-designed 18-hole course — the only Palmer signature layout in San Diego County — debuted in 1991 as the centerpiece of Aviara Golf Club and underwent a turf-to-Paspalum sustainability conversion during the resort's 2022 renovation cycle. All 43 suites and 327 guest rooms were redesigned during the same multiyear overhaul, each outfitted with marble bathrooms, soaking tubs, and private balconies oriented toward either the Pacific or the lagoon. Six on-site dining venues range from Ponto Lago's Baja-coastal menu to the Ember & Rye modern clubhouse steakhouse, covering the full arc from poolside small plates to dry-aged cuts. The Miraval Life in Balance Spa operates a hydrotherapy circuit and outdoor treatment cabanas inside the resort, extending Carlsbad's destination-spa concentration that includes The Spa at La Costa three miles east along the Aviara corridor. The property maintains six outdoor tennis courts, two heated pools, a 200-foot waterslide, and a 15,000-square-foot ballroom configured for events seating up to 700 guests.
