La Costa Coffee Roasting

Coffee & Tea

About

La Costa Coffee Roasting has roasted beans on-site in Carlsbad's La Costa corridor since 1982, when the shop opened at 6965 El Camino Real as a retail source for whole-bean coffee, loose-leaf tea, and kitchen accessories. A Probat drum roaster processes single-origin Arabica beans from small estates across Central America, East Africa, and Indonesia in the same Plaza Paseo Real suite where 264 Fresco anchors the neighboring dining lineup on El Camino Real. The espresso bar, added in 1988, pulls shots from house-roasted blends including a low-acidity New Guinea varietal and a flavored Snickerdoodle roast popular for cold brew. Friday evenings bring live music to the patio, positioning the roastery as both a Carlsbad coffee shop and a performance venue near the Omni La Costa Resort. Wholesale accounts supply restaurants and offices throughout North County, a distribution arm that runs parallel to the sandwich-focused catering at Board & Brew - Carlsbad Bressi Ranch along the same commercial corridor. Each small-batch roast cycle processes approximately 25 pounds of green coffee at temperatures between 400°F and 430°F, with first crack monitored by thermocouple probe to dial in the shop's signature medium-dark profile.
