Tasty Noodle House brought Shanghai-style cooking to Carlsbad's El Camino Real corridor when it opened at The Shoppes at Carlsbad in 2022, the chain's second San Diego County location after Kearny Mesa. Founded by Shanghai native Johnny Pan in 2009, the concept builds its menu around hand-pleated xiao long bao soup dumplings and grilled pork buns assembled in-house, a dim-sum program distinct from the Irish pub fare at Hennessey's Tavern in the adjacent Village. Shanghai-style chow mein comes in both thick and thin noodle cuts, while beef brisket noodle soup and the Tasty Dry Pot build heat from Sichuan chili oil and dried red peppers. A beer-and-wine license supplements the tea service, and the kitchen runs catering platters for the office parks along El Camino Real, the same corporate lunch corridor served by On a Roll Sandwich Shoppe. Each xiao long bao is hand-crimped with 18 folds around a gelatin-stock filling that liquefies during steaming, producing the signature soup burst inside the wrapper.
