About

Rebranded in 2022 under new ownership, 78 Thai Kitchen in Carlsbad occupies a suite on El Camino Real where the former Kinaly Thai once operated. The women-owned, Asian-owned kitchen runs a comfort-driven Thai menu featuring pad Thai, green curry, basil stir-fry, and tom kha soup, building curries from scratch on the same El Camino Real commercial strip as Panini Kabob Grill. Each curry starts with a base of coconut milk, galangal, lemongrass, and Thai chilies, with heat levels adjustable from zero to Thai-hot across the full entrée menu. The catering arm extends those same curry and noodle preparations to office parks along Palomar Airport Road and El Camino Real, a corridor already anchored by sit-down dining at 264 Fresco and other Village-area restaurants. The signature massaman curry layers peanut, potato, and slow-braised protein over jasmine rice in a thick coconut-tamarind reduction, while the crispy duck entrée arrives under a tamarind-chili glaze with a five-spice dry rub.
