About

Lieu de Sculpture occupies Suite 102 at 300 Carlsbad Village Drive inside the Village Faire complex, operating as the only teaching atelier in the region devoted solely to figurative sculpture. The studio sits steps from the dining corridor anchored by Jeune et Jolie on State Street, placing it at the center of Carlsbad Village's walkable arts-and-dining circuit. Formerly the Lynn Forbes School of Sculpture, the studio was acquired in 2021 by Dana McCullough, a retired public school educator who holds a BA in English, an AA in Liberal Arts, and a Master's degree in Teaching Adolescents and Young Adults. McCullough trained under Forbes and studied at the Florence Academy of Art in Italy before converting the space into an atelier-tradition studio offering drop-in clay sessions, live-model figurative work, and bronze casting commissions. Finished sculpture and handmade ceramics for sale complement the artisan retail mix that includes Earths Elements nearby on Carlsbad Village Drive. Commissioned portrait busts and full-body figurative works are sculpted in water-based clay, then hollow-cast and kiln-fired or sent to a foundry for lost-wax bronze patina finishing.
