About

Founded in 1979, North Coast Aquatics in Carlsbad is a USA Swimming-affiliated competitive swim club that trains at the Alga Norte Aquatic Center on Alicante Road, the largest such program in San Diego County. The club earned USA Swimming Gold Medal status from 2008 through 2012 as one of the top 20 programs in the country, developing athletes whose structured multi-year progression mirrors the belt-rank discipline at Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Carlsbad. NCA has placed over 240 swimmers into major college programs and produced international medalists including 1996 Olympic gold medalist Kurt Grote, 1999 Pan American gold medalist Tim Siciliano, and 2012 Junior Pan Pacifics gold medalist Kendyl Stewart. The age-based model spans 10-and-under through high-school performance tiers for athletes ages five through eighteen, anchoring a youth-athletics presence on the Alicante Road corridor where Peak Pediatric Dentistry serves the same school-age population. Senior-level swimmers train 50- and 100-meter race-pace intervals in Alga Norte's long-course configuration, coached by staff holding American Swim Coaches Association Certificate of Excellence designations since 2006.
